Minutes of the October 21, 2023 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA
President Dave Gilliard called the meeting to order at 8:38 a.m.
Invocation: Rod Beidler led the invocation.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Steve Hoss.
SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Mike Holmes.
Introduction of Guests: The guests were Vice-President General of the Western District, Compatriot Rob Moore (Hawaii SAR), California SAR Executive Vice-President Don Littlefield, Veda Hulbert, Coreena Ross.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
President Dave Gilliard made the motion to approve the Jume meeting minutes. Steve Hoss seconded the motion. seconded the motion for the minutes to be approved. The August meeting minutes were approved.
America 250 Minute Report
President Dave Gilliard gave his report about the America 250 minute and he spoke about Francis Salvador the Jewish Paul Revere.
Guests Comments/Greetings
Vice-President General Western District Compatriot Rob Moore spoke about the George Washington Endowment Fund. He also spoke about the George Washington Fellow SAR interactive museum.
He also spoke about the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party and the Henry Rifle Company special edition rifle.
California SAR Executive Vice-President Don Littlefield spoke about the upcoming Fall Board of Managers Meeting that will be held in Long Beach, California. The meeting is going to be held on the Queen Mary. The dates of the meeting are November 4th, 5th, 6th, 2023.
California SAR Executive Vice-President Don Littlefield spoke about the upcoming Spring California Sons of the American Meeting that will be held in Burlingame, California. The dates are April 25th through the 27th, 2024.
Officer Reports
President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard gave his report.
1st Vice President’s Report: 1st. Vice President said he was going to meet the new principal about the Valley Forge Program.
2nd Vice President’s Report: No report was given.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Dave Gilliard gave his report.
Secretary’s Report: No report was given.
Chaplain’s Report: Rod Beidler gave his report.
Valley Forge Report: Mike Holmes gave his report on the Valley Forge Program.
Color Guard Report: Dale Ross said the chapter did participate in the Revolutionary War Encampment in Pioneer Park, in Nevada City. The chapter also marched in the Constitution Day Parade. Steve Hoss and Dale Ross also got to carry the parade banner for the Delaware Regiment.
Old Business
Revolutionary War Encampment/Constitution Day Parade: Dale Ross said the chapter did participate in the Revolutionary War Encampment in Pioneer Park, in Nevada City. The chapter is also going to march in the Constitution Day Parade. The dates of the encampment were September 16th and September 17th, 2023. The date of the parade is September 17th, 2023. The Constitution Day Parade is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year.
President Dave Gilliard spoke about doing the school presentations for the poster contest.
President Dave Gilliard spoke about doing a program for the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.
President Dave Gilliard spoke about the chapter participating in the Auburn Veterans Day Parade. Auburn Veterans Day Parade: Mike Holmes also spoke about the Auburn Veterans Day Parade. The day of the parade is November 11th, 2023. The parade committee is going to honor the Korean Conflict Veterans and the First Responders this year. The Auburn Parade is celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year.
Wreaths Across America: The Gold Country Chapter SAR will participate at the New and Old Auburn Cemetery for the Wreaths Across America Program. The date of the program will be December 16th, 2023. The time of the program will be 9:00 a.m.
New Business
President Dave Gilliard spoke about the upcoming 2024 chapter elections for the officers and he also handed out a paper with the job descriptions of the chapter officers. Elections will be held at the November meeting.

The SAR recessional was led by Dave Hulbert.
