November 2017 Minutes

Minutes of the November 18, 2017 Meeting at Original Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 9:07 A.M.

Invocation: Compatriot Gordon Clark led the invocation.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Compatriot Mike Holmes.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Compatriot Ron Barker.

Introductions of Guests: The guests for the August meeting were Conni Barker, Coreena Ross, Jeannette Clark, and Anita Hurst.

Approval of Minutes: Ron Barker made the motion to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website. Gordon Clark seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Greg Hill gave his report.

1st Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

2nd Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

Treasurer’s Report: There was no Treasure’s Report given at this month’s meeting.

Secretary’s Report: Ron Barker filled in at the October for the recording secretary who was on vacation.

Eagle Scout Report: There was no report given.

Valley Forge: Mike Holmes said that he had spoken to several teachers about the Valley Forge Project.

J.R.O.T.C. Program: Mike Holmes spoke about the J.R.O.T.C. and they will have their awards in January of 2018.

Historian Report: There was no report given.

Registrar’s Report: Tony Chakurian said there were two perspective members.

Membership Report:

Colorguard Reports: Dale Ross spoke about the Wreaths Across America. The colorguard will do the colorguard duties at the New Auburn Cemetery and then the colorguard will be escorted by the Legion Riders to the Old Auburn Cemetery. Mikr Holmes also spoke about the Wreaths Across Ceremony. Admiral Potter and the Wind Ensemble will provide music at the ceremony. The SAR ladies are also going to help at the ceremony.

December 16th, 2017 the chapter will hold the Public Service Awards at the Auburn Terrace Room at the Holiday Inn Express. There will be the chapter awards and the chapter meeting.

The chapter participated in the Nevada City Constitution Day Parade and received Honorable Mention.

The chapter also participated in the Auburn Veteran’s Day Parade.

Chaplain’s Report: No report was given.

Newsletter Editor: No report was given.

Old Business

No old business to report for the chapter.

New Business

Mike Holmes spoke about the Earl Crabbe Gymnasium in Placer County.

Greg Hill spoke about needing more members to help with the poster contest at the schools.

The nominations for the new officers were completed at the November Chapter Meeting. The slate of officers are:

Greg Hill called for the meeting to be adjourned. Mike Holmes made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Tony Chakurian seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Benediction: Compatriot Gordon Clark gave the benediction at the meeting.

SAR Recessional: The SAR Recessional was led by Jim Holmes.

The meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
