May 2025 Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the May 17, 2025 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA

 

President Dave Gilliard called the meeting to order.

The meeting began at 8:32 a.m.

Pledge of Allegiance: Dale Ross led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Sons of the American Revolution Pledge: The Sons of the American Revolution Pledge was led by Steve Hoss.

President Dave Gilliard welcomed members and guests to the October Meeting. Veda Hulbert and Coreena Ross were the guests at the October meeting.

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes

There were no meeting minutes to approve.

 

America 250 Minute/Program Report

President Dave Gilliard spoke about the Serapis Flag.

 

Speakers

Dave Hulbert spoke about the Sacramento Sons of the American Revolution Meeting that was held in Roseville, CA. The guest speaker was a retired fire fighter, and he spoke about the Palisades Fire.

The Sacramento Chapter will relocate to the McClellan Officers Club.

President Dave Gilliard spoke about the upcoming flag presentation that will be held on Thursday, November 20th, 2025. The time of the meeting is 1:00 p.m. and it will be held at the Kilaga Springs Meeting Hall located in Lincoln, CA.

 

Officer and Program Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard spoke about the upcoming America 250 Celebration that will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 2nd through July 6th, 2025. He brought a flier from the President General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution to share with the chapter members.

First Vice President’s Report: No report was given.

Second Vice President’s Report: This position is currently vacant.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report.

Secretary Report: No report was given.

Acting Registrar/Genealogist: Dave Hulbert said there was a new member application.

Chaplain Report: No report was given.

Color Guard Commander: The Gold Country Chapter will participate in the Auburn Veterans Day Parade. The date of the event is November 11th, 2025 and more information will be forthcoming.

New Business

Approval of Meeting Minutes

President Dave Gilliard called for the February Meeting Gold Country Chapter SAR meeting minutes to be approved as published on the website. Dave Hulbert made the motion.  Greg Hill seconded the motion. The February meeting minutes were approved.

 

America 250 Minute/Program Report

The America 250 Report was given by Dave Hulbert. He discussed the history of Lincoln, Massachusetts, including its establishment in 1754.

 

Program

President Dave Gilliard did the program. The video was about the Dr. Joseph Warren Foundation: The Lost Revolutionary Hero

 

 

 

Officer and Program Chapter Reports

 

President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard spoke about the poster contest. There were over 600 posters that were submitted to the chapter for judging. The Gold Country Chapter poster took first place at the California Society Sons of the American Revolution State Meeting that was held in Orange County in April. The poster will be judged at the National Society Sons of the American Revolution Continental Congress that will be held in Uncasville, Connecticut.

President Dave Gilliard also said that Greg Hill received awards at the California Society Sons of the American Revolution that was held in Orange County in April.

President Dave Gilliard said the new California Society Sons of the American Revolution President was John Ferris.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report.

Old Business

President Dave Gilliard spoke about Assemblyman Joe Patterson, and he submitted a bill recognizing Lexington and Concord Day in California. The bill passed.

 

New Business

 

The Gold Country Chapter will participate in the Fourth of July Parade and the parade will be held in Grass Valley. There will be a picnic at Dale and Coreena Ross’s house after the parade.

Dale Ross will check into participating in the Auburn CA. Fourth of July Parade.

President Dave Gilliard spoke about June 14th, Flag Day.

President Dave Gilliard recognized Dick Fowler for being a 50 year member of the Sons of the American Revolution member.

President Dave Gilliard recognized Stephen Rogers for being a 30 year member of the Sons of the American Revolution member.

SAR Recessional: Dave Hulbert led the SAR Recessional.

The next meeting will be held at Mel’s Diner on June 21, 2025, at Mel’s Diner.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:17 a.m.
