Minutes of the May 15, 2021 Meeting via Zoom
President: President Dave Gilliard called the meeting to order. The meeting began at 8:34 a.m.
Invocation: Compatriot Dave Gilliard led the invocation.
SAR Pledge: Compatriot Ron Barker led the SAR Pledge.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Compatriot Jonathan Dickey.
Introductions of Guests: The guest was Coreena Ross.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
Compatriot Ron Barker made the motion for the April meeting minutes to be approved. Compatriot Greg Hill seconded the motion. Motion carries for the approval of the April meeting minutes.
Program
Eric Johnson gave his program about being involved with the COVID 19 virus. Eric Johnson is the Lincoln City Planning Commissioner. He completed his Master’s Degree in Health Administration. He spoke about being involved in the different prisons and helping isolate the prisoners who were infected with the COVID 19 virus from the other prisoners who were not infected. President Dave Gilliard presented Eric with a Gold Country Certificate of Appreciation for his presentation.
Chapter Reports
President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard spoke about resuming the chapter’s monthly meeting that will be held at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA. The next meeting will be held on June 19th, 2021 at Mel’s Diner.
1st Vice-President’s Report: 1st Vice-President Mike Holmes spoke about participating in the Memorial Day Celebration that is going to be held in Auburn, CA. He also spoke about getting the Gold Country Chapter SAR participating in the Auburn, CA 4th of July Parade.
2nd Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.
Treasurer’s Report: President Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report at this meeting.
Secretary’s Report: There was no report given at this meeting.
Valley Forge Report: There was no report given at this meeting.
Eagle Scout Report: There was no report given at the meeting.
Membership Report: There was no report given.
J.R.O.T.C. Report: 1st Vice-President Mike Holmes spoke about the J.R.O.T.C. medal and award presentation.
Colorguard Reports: There was no report given at the meeting.
Chaplain’s Report: There was no report was given at the meeting.
Newsletter Editor: There was no report given at this meeting.
Registrar’s Report: Compatriot Tony Chakurian said new applications are taking three months to get approved at the NSSAR Headquarters. He also said supplementals are taking several months for approval.
Genealogist Report: There was no report given at this meeting.
Old Business
President Dave Gilliard spoke about the NSSAR National Congress that will be held on July 10th through July 15th, 2021. The National Congress will be held in Seattle, Washington.
Jonathan Dickey spoke about the NSSAR America 250 Program.
Jonathan Dickey invited the Gold Country Chapter to participate in the July 3rd Heritage Day that will be held in Genoa, Nevada.
New Business
President Dave Gilliard asked Compatriot Dale Ross to bring the Colorguard Uniforms to the June meeting for the new members to see the uniforms.
President Dave Gilliard spoke about doing the 4th of July Parade in Grass Valley. The Gold Country Chapter won’t participate because it is a motorized event and there are no walking units in the parade this year.
1st Vice-President Mike Holmes spoke about the Auburn, CA 4th of July Parade. He was going to check into the details and give a report at the June 19th, 2021 meeting.
1st Vice-President Mike Holmes also spoke about the Veteran’s Day Parade that will be held in November.
Compatriot Ron Barker spoke about the Gold Country Chapter SAR participating in working the elections booth in November. This is also a fundraiser for the chapter.
Compatriot Ron Barker also spoke about doing a flag presentation for PEO. He said details will be forthcoming for the presentation.

President Dave Gilliard called for the meeting to be adjourned. Ron Barker made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Don Littlefield seconded the motion. Motion carried.
