Minutes of the May 16, 2015 Gold Country Chapter SAR Meeting at Max’s Cafe in Auburn, CA

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 10:05 AM. Recording Secretary Dale Ross was taking minutes.

Opening: Ron Barker led the Invocation. Dave Gilliard led the Pledge of Allegiance. Dale Ross led the SAR Pledge.

Members and Guests: President Greg Hill recognized the following guests. The guests were Jennifer Hill, Jeannette Clark, Tom Adams of the Mother Lode Chapter SAR. The honorable Maryanne Gilliard, Conni Barker, Susanna Bell, Jack Bell, Jack Gayaldo, Mary Pat Gayaldo, Liz Sublett, Coreena Ross. There were also Derek and Janet Brown of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter SAR  and Derek is the Vice-President North of the California Society Sons of the American Revolution and he is also the Activities Director of his chapter. There were a total of 8 members and 12 guests in attendance.

Minutes Approval: President Greg Hill asked for a motion approving the April meeting minutes as published on the chapter’s newsletter and on the website.  A motion was made by Dave Gilliard to accept the chapter minutes as published on the website. Mike Holmes seconded the motion. The motion carried to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website.

Community and Public Safety Awards:

Awards were presented by President Hill, and each recipient was invited to give remarks after receiving his medal and certificate. The following awards were presented: Chief Mark D’Ambrogi (Ret.) from the Auburn City Fire Department was awarded the Fire Safety Commendation Medal; Detective Ian Ackard from the Auburn Police Department was awarded the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal (absent); Jack Bell from Del Oro High School in Loomis was awarded the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal.

Chapter Reports:

President’s Report: President Greg Hill spoke about the April California Society Sons of the American Revolution Meeting. The state meeting was held in Irvine, CA. He also spoke about the chapter receiving the Medium to Large Chapter Plaque. He also spoke about the chapter receiving awards from the state meeting. President Greg Hill also spoke about the chapter’s historic flags which were on display.

Treasurer: Dave Gilliard said the balance was the same as last month.

Color Guard: Dale Ross spoke about the next colorguard activity which is going to be the 4th of July Parade that will be held in Grass Valley. The time of the parade will be at 11:00 a.m. Those who wish to participate in the parade will meet at Dale’s house at 9:30 a.m. His address is 403 Clark Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Dale’s phone number is 530-263-2827. Dale would like to host a barbecue for the chapter after the 4th of July Parade.

Eagle Scout: Dale Ross said the Golden Empire Council Boy Scouts of America released all of the Eagle Scout Names to him and he will prepare and mail out all of the Eagle Scout Packets.

Adjournment: Allan Brooking made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Dave Gilliard seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
