Minutes of the June 15, 2024 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA
President Ron Barker called the meeting to order.
The meeting began at 8:38 a.m.
Invocation: The invocation was led by Rod Beidler.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Steve Hoss.
Sons of the American Revolution Pledge: The Sons of the American Revolution pledge was led Dave Gilliard.
Introduction of Guests: The guest was Coreena Ross.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
President Ron Barker called for the May Gold Country Chapter SAR meeting minutes to be approved. Dave Gilliard seconded the motion. The May meeting minutes were approved.
America 250 Minute/Program Report
Dave Gilliard spoke about the Pine Tree Flag and he spoke about the tree on the flag. The tree on the flag represents the Pine Tree Revolt. An Appeal to Heaven Flag was designed by Colonel Joseph Reed and he was the personal secretary to George Washington. The flag was originally commissioned for six military cruiser ships and the flag was adopted on October 21, 1775. It became the official Massachusetts navy flag in 1775. An Appeal to Heaven was written by John Locke.
Dave Gilliard spoke about the Friends of the Lafayette Society.
Program
The program for the June meeting was presented by Rod Beidler. The program that Rod Beidler presented was called The Incomplete Beidlers in America. He spoke about his family history and how they provided aid to George Washington at Valley Forge during the American Revolution.
Officer and Program Chapter Reports
President’s Report: President Ron Barker spoke about the chapter getting a new member and his name is Caleb Demharter.
First Vice President’s Report: First Vice President Mike Holmes thanked the chapter members who attended the Navy League Meeting and did a historical flag presentation.
Second Vice President’s Report: No report was given.
Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report. He also spoke about doing fundraisers for the chapter. He spoke about the Wreaths Across America Fundraiser for the chapter.
Secretary’s Report: No report was given.
Chaplain’s Report: Rod Beidler said there was no report given for this month.
Valley Forge Report: No report was given.
Colorguard Report: The Gold Country Chapter will participate in the Fourth of July Parade and the parade will be held in Nevada City. There will be a picnic at Dale and Coreena Ross’s house after the parade.
The Gold Country Chapter will participate in the handing out fliers for the Revolutionary War Encampment and the Constitution Day Parade on August 6th, 2024 at the National Night Out in Pioneer Park in Nevada City.
The Gold Country Chapter will participate in the Revolutionary War Encampment that will be held in Pioneer Park in Nevada City on September 14th and the 15th, 2024. The Constitution Day Parade will be held in Nevada City on September 15th., 2024. The time of the parade is pending.

The Gold Country Chapter will participate in the Fourth of July Parade and the parade will be held in Nevada City. There will be a picnic at Dale and Coreena Ross’s house after the parade.
