February 2026 Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the February 21, 2026 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA

 

President Dave Gilliard called the meeting to order.

The meeting began at 8:40 a.m.

Pledge of Allegiance: Ron Barker led the Pledge of Allegiance.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Greg Hill.

 

Guests

Guests: President Dave Gilliard recognized the guests at the meeting. The guests were the Northern California Vice-President Dan Shurtz and he is from the Thomas Jefferson Chapter NSSAR, and Richard Clark, Conni Barker, Coreena Ross.

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes

Dave Hulbert made the motion to approve the October meeting minutes as published on the chapter website. Steve Hoss seconded the motion for the minutes to be approved. The October meeting minutes were approved.

 

America 250 Minute Report

Steve Hoss gave the America 250 Report.

 

Program

The program for the February meeting was the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge, and the program was presented by Dave Hulbert.

 

Officer and Program Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard said they were doing presentations for the poster contest at the local schools. The Poster Contest Theme is the Declaration of Independence. President Dave Gilliard thanked Ron and Conni Barker and Dave Hulbert for helping out at the schools.

First Vice President’s Report: Greg Hill is going to be the first vice-president and there was no report given.

Second Vice President’s Report: This position is vacant.

Treasurer’s Report: President Dave Gilliard gave the treasurer’s report.

Secretary’s Report: Ron Barker said the annual report is finished and has been submitted to the California State Society Sons of the American Revolution.

Registrar’s Report: Dave Hulbert said there are two applications pending.

Color Guard Commander Report: No report was given.

 

Old Business

There was no old business report.

 

New Business

Northern California State President spoke about doing the brochure contest in the middle schools.

Coreena Ross spoke about the Emigrant Trail NSDAR invitation to the River Cats 2nd Annual Fundraiser that will be held on April 26th, 2026.

Coreena Ross spoke about the CASSAR Ladies Auxiliary and encouraged the spouses to join the CASSAR Ladies Auxiliary.

Coreema Ross also spoke about receiving a letter from the President General National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Ginnie Sebastain Storage.

 

President Dave Gilliard said the March meeting will be the poster judging contest and there will be an email sent to the chapter members giving the details for the meeting place.

 

SAR Recessional: Greg Hill led the SAR Recessional.

 

President Dave Gilliard called for the meeting to be adjourned.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:40 a.m.
