Minutes of the February 15, 2025 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA
President Dave Gilliard called the meeting to order.
The meeting began at 8:34 a.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jim Holmes.
SAR Pledge: The Sons of the American Revolution Pledge was led by Ron Barker.
Introduction of Guests
The guest at the February meeting was Coreena Ross.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
President Dave Gilliard called for the approval of the January meeting minutes as published on the website. Dave Hurlbert made the motion to approve the January meeting minutes. Ron Barker seconded the motion. The motion carried.
America 250 Program/Report
President Dave Gilliard spoke about George Washington’s Farewell Speech.
Officer and Program Chairman Reports
President’s Report: President Dave Gilliard spoke about building membership in the Sons of the American Revolution. He handed out door hangers and new membership pamphlets.
First Vice President: No report was given.
Second Vice President: No report was given.
Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave his report.
Secretary’s Report: No report was given.
Chaplain’s Report: No report was given.
Colorguard Report: Colorguard Captain Dale Ross spoke about the Daughters of the American Revolution District ll Meeting that was held on January 25th, 2025 in Roseville, CA. There were 10 men in the colorguard representing three different chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Delaware Regiment.
Genealogist Report: Ron Barker said there was one perspective member.
Old Business
President Dave Gilliard spoke about the upcoming California Sons of the American Revolution Spring Meeting. The meeting dates are April 24th and 25th, 2025. The meeting will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Orange County/Costa Mesa.
President Dave Gilliard spoke about the 135th National Sons of the American Revolution Congress. The National Congress will be held in Uncasville, Connecticut and the dates are July 13th, 2025 through July 17th, 2025.
New Business
Poster Judging Contest: Ron Barker spoke about the Gold Country Chapter poster judging contest. There are nine schools and twenty-one classrooms participating in the poster contest. The Emigrant Trail NSDAR Chapter will be invited to participate in the poster judging contest.
250th Anniversary Proclamation of the Battle at Lexington and Concord at the State Capitol: President Dave Gilliard spoke about California State Representative Joe Patterson introducing a resolution for the 250th Anniversary of the Battle at Lexington and Concord. The date will be approximately April 19th, 2025.
Daughters of the American Revolution Report: Coreena Ross spoke about inviting Emigrant Trail DAR Chapter to participate in the June 14th, 2025 flag presentation. The location will be determined later.
The March 15th, 2025 meeting location will be determined later.
President Dave Gilliard called for the meeting to be adjourned.
S.A.R. Recessional: Dave Hurlbert led the S.A.R. Recessional.
