Old Business:
Revolutionary War Encampment. President Ross spoke about the Revolutionary War Encampment in Pioneer Park in Nevada City from September 12-14. He expressed his desire that we continue to become more involved in the coming years, and try to involve other chapters around the state.
Election Day Volunteering. Registrar Barker reports that he has people signed up to man the Election Day voting booth in Auburn. The election is on November 4, 2014.
New Business:
New Meeting Location. Having just discovered before the meeting that Lou LaBonte’s is closing and this will be our last meeting here, a new meeting location was discussed. No final decisions on a location were made, but possible locations were suggested including Denny’s and Max’s Cafe. President Ross will investigate Denny’s at least as a temporary location for November’s meeting.
CASSAR State Meeting. President Ross reminded us that there is an upcoming state meeting in Petaluma, CA from November 6-9. There will be a color guard event that the chapter recently became aware of; more details will follow via email when they become available.
Community Service Awards. The Community Service Awards meeting has been postponed until early 2015.
Chapter Officers Election. Nominations for Chapter Officers was supposed to happen at this meeting, but due to low turnout, they will be coordinated via email and formally made at the next meeting in November.
Wreaths Across America. President Ross announced the upcoming Wreaths Across America program in December. The event is on December 13, 2014.
Gold Country Chapter Christmas Party. The Christmas Party still needs a location. Possibilities were discussed but no final decision was made.
Speakers:
Compatriot Ron Barker and his wife Connie gave a presentation. Connie spoke in character as Dorcas Nelson Richardson, a militia officer’s wife. The topic of their presentation was Frances Marion, The Swamp Fox. The presentation was a good chance for the membership that is not normally involved with the Poster Contest to see some of the work done in the classrooms by Gold Country Chapter members.
Closing:
Compatriot Gordon Clark led the SAR Recessional and Registrar Barker gave the benediction. President Ross adjourned the meeting at 10:45AM.
