Roseville, CA — The California Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) has awarded fifth grade teacher Nicole Jacobson of John Adams Academy in Roseville their Bronze Good Citizenship medal. The award ceremony took place at the society’s annual fall meeting at the Mission Inn in Riverside, California on Saturday, November 7.
This summer, Jacobson took part in the Freedom’s Foundation Summer Workshop for teachers, in Valley Forge, PA. She was sponsored at the week-long workshop by the Gold Country Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
“Nicole Jacobson expresses a passion and enthusiasm for American History that will enrich and educate her students for years to come,” said Dave Gilliard of the Gold Country Chapter. “The heroic history of our nation’s struggle for independence is too often short-changed in schools. Teachers like Nicole are doing a tremendous service, not only to their students but to the community and country, by giving their students the true story of our country’s founding.”
The Sons of the American Revolution is a 501c3 non-profit organization that traces its roots to 1876. The Bronze Good Citizenship Medal was authorized in 1895 and recognizes persons whose achievements are noteworthy in their school, community or state.
