May 2019 Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the May 18, 2019 Meeting at Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA

President: President Tony Chakurian called the meeting to order. The meeting began at 8:43 a.m.

Invocation: Compatriot Gordon Clark led the invocation.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Compatriot Dale Ross.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Compatriot Steve Hoss.

Introductions of Guests: The guests for the January meeting were David Morgan, Coreena Ross, Jeannette Clark.

Program

The program for the May Meeting was a presentation about The Cemetery at Mare Island. David Morgan was presented with a certificate of appreciation.

Approval of Meeting Minutes

There April chapter meeting minutes were approved.

Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Tony Chakurian spoke about the National Society Sons of the American Revolution National Congress that will be held in Orange County, California. The registration iis open for the National Congress.

1st Vice-President’s Report: 1st Vice-President Mike Holmes spoke about meeting with the Auburn Elementary School in regards to the Valley Forge Project.

2nd Vice President’s Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

Secretary’s Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

Eagle Scout Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

Valley Forge Teacher Program: Mike Holmes said he will be meeting with the Auburn Elementary School in regards to the Valley Forge Project.

Membership Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

J.R.O.T.C. Report: The next J.R.O.T.C. award will be given next year.

Colorguard Reports: The chapter will participate in the Grass Valley 4th of July Parade. The Colorguard and their families will meet at Dale Ross’s house in Grass Valley, CA at 9:30 a.m. We will march over to the parade route at 10:00 a.m. The address is 403 Clark Street, Grass Valley, CA. 95945. Their phone number is 530-274-1838.  There will be a luncheon served after the parade. Everybody is welcome to attend.

Chaplain’s Report: There was no report was given at the meeting.

Newsletter Editor: There was no report was given at the meeting.

Registrar’s Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

Genealogist Report: There was no report given at the meeting.

Old Business

The Gold Country Chapter has been invited back to the Revolutionary War Encampment. The date of the Revolutionary War Encampment is September 14th and September 15th, 2019. The chapter will march in the Constitution Day Parade on September 15th, 2019.

New Business

The Gold Country Chapter will be sponsoring a polling place in Auburn. The date of the event is June 4th, 2019. The name of the church is Auburn Presbyterian Church. The address is 13025 Bel Air Drive, Auburn, CA.

Adjournment

President Tony Chakurian called for the meeting to be adjourned. Mike Holmes made the motion for the meeting to be adjourned. Dale Ross seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Benediction: Compatriot Gordon Clark gave the benediction at the meeting.

SAR Recessional: The SAR Recessional was led by Compatriot Dennis Deck.

The meeting adjourned at 9:05 a.m.
