February 2017 Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the February 18, 2017 Meeting at Original Mel’s Diner in Auburn, CA

President Greg Hill called the meeting to order at 9:08 A.M.

Invocation: Gordon Clark did the invocation.

SAR Pledge: The SAR Pledge was led by Dave Gilliard.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Tony Chakurian.

Introductions of Guests: The guests for the February meeting were Jeannette Clark, Conni Barker, Coreena Ross Angel Ruffcorn and John Ruffcorn, Mary and Dennis Oliveras.

Approval of Minutes: Mike Holmes made the motion to approve the minutes as published on the chapter website. Gordon Clark seconded the motion. The motion was approved.

Guest Speaker

The guest speaker was Angel Ruffcorn who is an F.B.I. Special Agent. She spoke about being an F.B.I. Special Agent. President Greg Hill presented Angel Ruffcorn with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Chapter Reports

President’s Report: President Greg Hill spoke about the upcoming poster contest for the chapter.

1st Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

2nd Vice President’s Report: There was no report given.

Treasurer’s Report: Dave Gilliard gave the Treasure’s Report at the chapter meeting.

Secretary’s Report: There was no report given.

Eagle Scout Report: There was no report given.

Poster Judging Contest: Dave Gilliard spoke about the poster contest and at the March Meeting the chapter will be judging the posters.

Valley Forge: There was no report given

J.R.O.T.C. Program: Mike Holmes spoke about the J.R.O.T.C. awards. On January 8th, 2017, a Naval Sea Cadet received the Sons of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award.

Historian Report: There was no report given.

Registrar’s Report: Tony Chakurian gave the Registrar’s Report. He said there were two new names approved by national.

Colorguard Reports: There is a pending Colorguard Activity at Beale Air Force Base on July 2nd, 2017.

Chaplain’s Report: No report was given.

Newsletter Editor: No report was given.

Old Business

Jeannette Clark requested the names of the new members so she could the chapter name tags for them.

CASSAR State Meeting: The CASSAR state meeting will be held in the first week of April. The Orange County Chapter will be hosting the meeting.

The National Spring Leadership Meeting will be held on the first weekend in March in Louisville, Kentucky.

The National Leadership will hold this year’s congress in Louisville, Kentucky.

Dave Gilliard spoke about the chapter’s poster contest. There were ten different schools that participated in the poster contest this year. There were twenty seven fifth grade classes and two new schools.

Mike Holmes spoke about the Forgotten Soldier Project and the Dedication of the Plaques that will occur on March 4th, 2017.

Mike Holmes spoke about the chapter participating in a Colorguard Ceremony at the Auburn Oaks Retirement Community. The ceremony will take place aroung June 14th, which is Flag Day.

Mike Holmes spoke about the chapter participating the Big Day of Giving on May 4th, 2017 in Auburn, Ca.

Mike Holmes spoke about The Touch of Home Program which sends out boxes to the military who are deployed overseas.

New Business

There wasn’t any new business for the chapter.

Mike Holmes made the motion for the meeting to be adjpourned. Gordon Clark seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Benediction: Gordon Clark led the benediction at the meeting.

SAR Recessional: The SAR Recessional was led by Mike Holmes.

The meeting adjourned at 10:23 a.m.
